I almost always have Image Stabilisation on - except when doing videos.

Here're two examples : one with and one without IS. Notice the difference. Exposure 1/50th second. Look at the exif info for more details.

I can't guarantee the images will be there more than a week or two. I tend to clear out stuff from my website occasionally. I'm also considering a radical redesign of the site anyway.

Here's a night shot of some reflections I took in Las Vegas last year at 1/6 of a second, ~150mm equivalent focal length, handheld:

So why WOULDN'T one use a stabilizer?

Occasionally, the sun does shine. For the last few months though with it being winter though, we've had the normal totally overcast skies 90% of the time.

All I can say is very interesting! If/as & When I replace my current UZ I will almost certainly make sure the replacement has IS.
Thanks for the good examples.

I usually shoot with the stabilizer on. And here in Singapore, the silly sun is shining too bright these two weeks ... very hot. ;)
