I just got a Canon S410 camera two days ago, and so far, I'm impressed but not nearly as much as I thought I would be. The pictures are nice, nothing amazing though. The flash pictures in particular are horrible - I prefer the pictures from my previous 2 MP Samsung digital camera to this one. I think I'd be a lot happier with these pictures if the flash wasn't so bright. Everything the flash hits turns about 10 shades whiter!! I've played around with the settings a bit, but I must admit, I'm no expert on this camera (yet?), so does anyone have any ideas? Or is this the way it's going to be no matter what?

Thanks so much for any help!

Well that's an inherent problem with ultracompacts. I had the same problem too with my Canon S500. The only solution (short of buying a camera that supports external flash) is to switch your ISO to 400, then correct the added noise with image editing software.

ISO 400 will ensure you need less light in the photo, so that you can turn the flash off and still get a nice pic.
