Been looking at the Oben AC-1300 3-Section Aluminum Tripod w/ BA-00 Ball Head from BH Photo. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
A Chinese knock off of a Manfrotto 190XB by the looks of things. If it's well built and solid it's probably worthwhile but if it's flimsy and flexible then you gets what you pays for as they say.
I would be wanting to see one before I ordered but I guess you guys have the luxury of being able to return stuff no questions asked that we don't.

I am very tempted by one of these:

That looks quite neat the leg with the grip detaches to become a monopod.
I've got a carbon fibre Manfrotto and I don't think I'd go back to an alloy tripod again. The carbon fibre is just so nice to work with especially when it's cold.

I bought a Manfrotto 055 to get a little more height but it's a heavy beast and perhaps the 190X ProB (or a knock-off copy) might have been smarter. I like the idea of K1W1's carbon tripod but they I think they are a bit short. Good luck with the decision whatever you get.

The MF 055XPROB which is great but as above, a little heavy for long treks.
Best thing is to check them out in person if that is possible.

Does look neat, but pricey. Maybe if I was paying in AUD$ :-)
The shiny stuff worries me, as I would sort of expect it to get scratched up.

I absolutely love my Gitzo 0531. It's a bit short for some, but I'm only 5'7" so it works well for me. It's also SO light that it is no problem to take it anywhere. I also totally agree about the awesomeness of carbon fiber.:) I will never go back to a tripod w/o carbon fiber..

Thanks for the info guys!
Anthony - I love that tripod! I am going to start a fund for one!
Just blew the current fund on a used 70-300VR so it will be a little while! ;)
