IF YOU PURELY TRUST ALL YOUR PICTURES TO AF...OK....IF YOU DO ALOT OF MANUAL FOCUS...YOU MAY NOT LIKE THE MINI TV VIEWFINDER....

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.....YOU CAN SET IT UP SO IT GIVES YOU A CLOSER VIEW DURING FOCUS..BUT THAT TAKES SOME TIME TO GET USED TO

I'LL STICK TO MY HIGH END VIDEO FOR WORK ..BUT THIS IS PRETTY GOOD FOR WHAT IT IS.....AS LONG AS YOU DON'T NEED PERFECTION:p

AND IS A DECENT PRICE...

(NOTE ..LENS MM IS 1.5X SINCE IT HAS AN APS-C SENSOR)

SONYNUT

It's not very clear at all...grainy video...changes colors depending on wb setting..takes longer that the shutter movement before the picture comes back...you just have to try one...but then if you use live view rear , with af like a p$s..its fine

How do you find the EVF for accurate focus? I'm thinking primarily for Macro.
I've been keeping an eye out for a s/h NEX but the EVF would probably suit me better.
I often have the Sun slightly behind me and that kills the rear LCD.

I presume the Video is A55.
It looks pretty good; I take it the jerkiness is down to the hosting site.

SONYNUT
10-18-2010, 04:46 AM
I had the nex...sent it back in 2 days...

Like i've said the evf is grainy ........ If i was using this as my main camera, it would drive me nuts...i've gotten more used to it, but i wouldn't do commercial work with it unless you can hook up a monitor..(thats what i do for product shots anyway)

jerkiness is the site yes...the vid on a tv is good

Hey Steve,

Have you noticed any dust build up on the mirror, yet? I am wondering how that goes with the interchangeable lenses.

I would have thought that there would be a little interest by the buying public for answers to common questions about the new SLT-mirror cameras. (lenses, flashes, etc.) You know, just general questions. I suppose if it is merely a jump from DLSR technology, most are covered, but if it is from P/S ...

Anyone else find this a little ... vacant?

To the person that asked about the dust with an A-55-

The translucent mirror material (which is still undisclosed by Sony as to what it is) is resistant to dust, which makes me assume it is some sort of anti-static material like that of what hard disk drives ship in. The A-55 also upon power on and power off does a "micro-shake" to remove any dust build up on the fixed translucent lens (if any).

SONYNUT
02-18-2011, 09:12 PM
but it still gets in there......

Peekayoh
02-19-2011, 02:07 AM
Unless you never remove the lens, interchangeable lens cameras suffer from the ingress of dust. Fact!
You can blow the camera out and clean the Sensor (it's pretty tough).
The Semi-Transparent mirror is still an unknown factor.
AFAIK there is no user routine to clean it should it become dirty and Sony will charge you GBP117 to do it.

Rooz

dust: perhaps the most over dramatised issue of dslr today.

Peekayoh
02-19-2011, 10:44 AM
I'd agree that it's not a huge problem if you take care when swapping lenses.
But sooner or later dust will get in and, if it's visible, then you need to get rid of it.
Also, the closer to the Sensor the dust particle is, the more problematic it becomes.
