Canon S3 is black through view finder & LCD lens. I can go and view pictures on my LCD that I have already taken but when I go to the picture mode view finder and LCD are Black. Won't focus and Pics are black. Is my sensor broken and this thing ready for the garbage????:(

I'm looking for used S2 or S3 or S5 strictly for recording stereo sound only.
Don't need to take pics with it.

So don't throw it away!

Realistically, a few years is the lifespan of most consumer grade digital cameras. We'd love it to be longer, but that's what you should plan on from a consumer electronic device. Many last longer (my S3 is still going strong) but after 3-4 years I know that it could crap out at any moment. I won't be happy, but I won't be surprised.
