A80 being discontinued!?

Don't want to spread rumors... but I've been waiting on a Canon A80 camera I ordered a bit ago, and finally got the following email from the store owner:

"Good evening,

Thanks for the reply; we just contacted Canon again (a few minutes ago), and
I have some bad news. The reason they've been delaying the A80 shipments is
that they are now apparently being discontinued. Canon will not be shipping
any more A80 units at all. They will be announcing new products next week.

Kind of frustrating to say the least...

I have been shopping around for my first d-camera for about a month now and have been waiting to see what happens to the A80 - this week its price dropped by $30 Canadian dollars at the local big box store - so perhaps something is up?
