View Full Version : Good point & shoot for indoor snapshots of people?

I am thinking about buying a point & shoot digital camera to use for casual indoor snapshots. This would be primarily for posting on the Web and making prints at 4x6 or occasionally 5x7, so massive megapixels are not a requirement. What's most important to me is getting excellent snapshots on automatic settings, especially with regard to color balance and skin tone.

I currently have an FZ20, which I enjoy for outdoor photography when I need a long zoom. I'm less happy with it for indoor people photos -- I find it needs some fiddling with settings to get decent skin tone (and even then, I end up post-processing). And while the FZ20 is not at all as heavy as it looks, I still can't put it into a purse (even a big purse). Often I'd rather just take snapshots on automatic if I'm out at a restaurant with friends, for example.

I already have an old Kodak DC4800 point and shoot, which gives excellent color balance and skin tone, but doesn't perform very well indoors in low light.

Anyone have a point & shoot they feel works very well taking indoor snaps on auto settings, with good color and skin tones?

Thanks.
