jeff, you said in your review you bought one, that was a while ago. maybe a good idea to amend your intitial review and include a "life with the GF1" section. lots of reviews where the reviewer is handling a camera for a few days, but i'd be interested to know what litle things you picked up since you now own it and have been shooting it for a while.

i'd also be interested to know why you picked a gf1 over the ep2.

I don't think the E-P2 existed when I bought my GF1. Would still choose the GF1 again due to its superior AF performance and brighter/sharper LCD. The only real thing I've learned over the long term is that it loves to clip highlights...

i notice the Q-menu joystick style thing, (like the lx3), has gone in favour of a push button. i assume then that you push the button and then have to use the directional buttons to navigate ?

I can't decide between this and an NX10. Really the only thing I didn't like about the GF1 was that dial, that is hopeless. And yet I'm still thinking hard about one.

They aren't in store here yet, but looking at the spec's they looked good even on the size side, and a good sized sensor, that near to the D300 it's not worth worrying about the . something of a mm.

In fact just had a look here and the numbers, well here they are

NX10 23.4x15.6mm 14meg
106x86x40
GF1 17.3x13mm 12meg
119x71x35

So size wise for all purposes they are the same, but the NX10 wins on sensor size by a lot.
If you take the fact into it that the Samsung has a viewfinder on it already, where as you'll need the bolt on for the GF then it really smokes it on the size side as well.

I think seeing it like this has made the decision for me. NX10.

.

its a fair bit bigger mate. its more like a G1
here's an nx10 against an ep2, (same size as the gf1).

not saying its a bad camera at all. you may be ok with the size. but im looking for a small compact camera to fit in my pocket when i dont want to take a dslr with me. for my uses, its not small enuf. i may aswell take a d5000 with a 35/1.8.

yeah, i hear ya.. my setup has gotten so big (& expensive) that i feel like i take less pics now than ever.. I am Seriously contemplating the GF1 or E-P2. I love the Olympus but I just wish they would make an E-P3 soon! All's I want is the E-P2 classy body + a better LCD, a small pop-up flash, and better AF. That's it :D ..Everybody sure loves the GF1 though..

So you arin't going to get the eye piece? Or your going to put it on each time?

I know a couple of people using these, both have the eye piece.....

Edit to add: The only lens I'm looking at for either is the pancake.

i would use the heck out of it (EVF) for the E-P2. I hear it's fabulous.. GF1, doubt i would get it- it's not included and I hear it's nowhere near as good as the one for the E-P2.

for me, no. cos it defeats the purpose of the camera. i want something as small and compact as possible with better IQ than a compact.

josef: i agree, am only interested in the pancakes. zooms takes you out of pocketability sizde. and you're right, i want the love child of the gf1 and ep2. :D

you know, looking at the e-pl1.. it sure gets a lot of things right. i don't like the looks as much as the EP1 and EP2, but the JPEGs straight out of the camera are pretty dang nice. and the flash can be manually bounced which, IMO, is awesome. i hope i can wait another few months.. surely the perfect 4/3 camera from olympus will be released.. i hope :D
