i take alot of indoor pictures where redeye seems to be most visible. I'm looking to buy my first camera, and i originally had my heart set on the A95. I went down to my local retailer, and i just wasn't a fan of the bulkyness of the A95, and after experimenting with my friends A95, i wasn't too thrilled with the A95's performance as far as redeye goes. I've pretty much come to teh point where i've thrown redeye out as a test for which camera i should get since im basically gonna get it which ever way i go. so can anyone suggest a camera that meets teh following criteria: not bulky ( i wanna be able to fit it in a pocket and not have to carry it around everywhere), high quality pictures with his res (looking for a 5mp), some manual focus controls (i know im a nube right now, but i want a camera i can grow into, same reason in want atleast 5mp). Thats about it.

P.S. anyone have any clue when canon is gonna announce the new 5mp elph?

BTW, red-eye is a product of the eye's reflective characteristics. The reflection is directed back to the light source just like a classic bicycle reflector. Compact cameras are particularily prone to photographing red-eye because the flash is located near the lens. The darker the room, or portion of the room the subject is looking at, the more pronounced the red-eye. Red-eye also occurs more in children, people with blue eyes and fair skin, and in females. There are some tricks (multiple pre-flashes, ...) that can sometimes reduce red-eye, but in general you won't find much difference in compact cameras with respect to red-eye unless you get one that does some automatic image processing to remove it.
