I just picked up a Sandisk Extreme III 1 gig from B&H, and I was wondering what is the exact x speed representation on this? I know that it is "supposed" to be slightly faster than the Lexar's 80X Pros, but I'm not sure if it will benifit me much at all. Am I correct in thinking that a 20D is capable of handeling the thoroughput of a 80X card? If so I suppose I made the right choice.

If you don't mind my asking, could I check why you need the speed specification to be so accurate? What sort of photography do you do?

I'm just very inquisitive about the products that I buy. Never hurts to know to much about the equipment your using.

An Extreme III is called a 133X card. It supports 20mbs read and write (except memory stick version which is 18mbs).
See: http://sandisk.com/retail/ext3-cf.asp for details about the CF card.
I am not familar with your camera, so I can't really say, but (it's a Cannon EOS 8.2mb?) then you can take 5 shots per second. Each shot being 3.6mb in fine/large mode, so this card shouldn't slow your camera down trying to write that 18mb. 23 shot burst mode.....However, see: http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007-7303 for a review of a multitude of CF cards and brands in YOUR particular camera.

The Extreme III is a 133X card. When reading and writing, it has a 20mbs speed. ;)

I've posted this before, but you may find some answers here:

You can see that there is only a slight difference between Ultra II and Ultra III using the 20D which has a max buffer-to-CF card transfer speed of around 6MB/sec.
