When can we expect to see the next camera in the Canon PowerShot S1 IS line?

It's been a year and 2 days since Canon released the S1 IS. Its successor should be out soon - I think. Maybe they're still preparing? Perhaps it'll be out on Monday (Thursday night is an odd time to release the S2 IS - Offices about to close :D )

And if a S2 IS is coming out, Canon mind-as-well maintain its future successors base (Bottom) size, remove the "print & share feature" and ports, add other more important features and make a dock which can
~Print and share
~Have connection ports
~Charge the camera
~Playback/snap while in the dock
~Unload pictures onto builtin memory to free up camera space
~Be used, even when disconnected from power supply
~Store extra power in a builtin dock battery
With a separate dock, Canon can transfer some features onto the dock and add more useful features (Like more optical zoom) to the camera

Ok since we know that the Canon S1 IS did not get an upgraded successor at PMA 2005, what is the next event for Canon to make an announcement for this camera? How long must I wait?
There was no updated Pro 1 and no updated S1.
Personally, I feel that Canon isn't going to bring out a Pro 2 or an S2. I suspect all their energy is now going into DSLR development and into producing more 3mp compacts.
The market seems to be splitting now into two - people for whom 3mp is sufficient and people who think they need more. People are working out that they really don't need more than 3mp so the 4 - 7 mp compacts are probably going to fall by the wayside.
Just my thought anyway.

Just bringing thread to top page to see if any inside news has come about in the last couple of weeks.I am buying this one soon, like tomorrow.Unless some new info is out there.I'm in the need for zoom w/ IS, and my hands on trips have showed cannon much better than others with zoom for the price, but a 5mp camera would be a perfect fit for me.

No such camera is in the works, but don't hold be accountable for saying that. Anything could happen during April or May.
Want 5 MP? Go for a Panasonic instead.

I've heard about the S2 IS being 5 MP, having 12x optical and a 1.8" flip screen but no info on when it's coming out.

I am really interested in the S1 IS camera EXCEPT for the screen size :( I really don't know if I could go back to a 1.5 inch screen. I am so used to the 1.8" on my A75. Yes, 0.3 inches makes HUGE difference! :) So is there any new info when a successor will come out??
