I have a sony a550, I would like to beable to use my old minolta manual rokkor 600mm td f5.6 lens with this camera. Is it possible and how can it be done?

You can get adapters on eBay that will fit all the SR-series Minolta mounts to fit on Alpha-mount bodies. Unfortunately, to maintain infinity focus these adapters need to have a glass element in them, and the quality of that glass element can be really dodgy.

From what I've heard, they also sell the adapters without a glass element. You will indeed loose infinity focus, so you can't use the lens for shots of the moon, but for wildlife it should be fine.
By the way if the lens is build in such a way that it can focus beyond infinity (you frequently see that with old long lenses), you may even keep infinity focus, because the effect of the extension due to the adapter is not nearly as large for a 600mm lens as it is for, say, a 50mm lens.
