I am going to go against the tide here
I am not impressed with any of the compositions here
A bit more thought towards composition & the message would help

I'm with the tide. I think #1,m #3, and #9 are really good. #1 is especially good.

I think they are great shots too... it's very hard to find a new angle to take photo's of cars and I think Faisal has found some great shots and done some nice PP.
I took some "snaps" last year but it was mainly to show the cars not the details. clicky for pics (http://picasaweb.google.com/gordon.dadswell/Billing2009#)

Well I only took the 85mm with me as a challenge cause I had done the wide angle shots to death....I kinda surprised myself with some of the shots though I can do a little better with some others....Thanks... :)
Nice shots btw...I wish I had a similar back drop for my shots instead of buildings....

love the reflections in 6, also very nice pp. 9 is also very nice. i think i'd prefer the whole hood ornament to be in focus, but still a very nice shot.

The 85's minimum focal distance is the issue I see here
Too many bits are in the frame
It mostly looks like random lens tests, portraying the 85's narrow DOF
The best of the lot for me is #7

These are really unique/wonderful shots faisal, and I'm not just being nice. Superb composition and PP. I'd be proud to call any one of these images mine.
Many would clasify much of these as "detail shots", but I love detail shots. ;)
Were these cropped much? You must have been close to the MFD of the 85 in several of these.
i'm sorry i missed these first time round. imho, this is the best work you've ever posted here. from the first set especially. i think the compositions and isolating unique parts of the old car work perfectly.

I get what you're saying and I agree that the MFD of the 85 was an issue and a little annoying. A few of these shots would have been shot differently if I could have gotten closer but with the limitation I had, I think I like what I ended up with. Appreciate your feedback... :)

I think these are called 'detail shots' though I didn't know something like that existed when I was taking the shots which was kinda good cause I didn't know what I was aiming for. Most of these weren't cropped at all. Maybe a little straightening here and there but apart from that nothing else so I was most of the time at the 85mm MFD. Plus having the 85 on a crop camera helps getting that extra zoom if you know what I mean. Thanks... :)

Its funny how sometimes the least amount of gear and technicality can produce the most amazing work.... :)
