For lens cap holder I use self glue hook-and-loop fasteners (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velcro)

At Camera strap I place loop side of hook-and-loop fasteners:

The lens cap keeps on a сamera strap very strongly:

Good idea, but not 100% ...
When you are in a crowd, and jumping around you can easily loose it.

It is really funny why dont they make lense cap on a string ...

100 % guarantee are given only by an insurance policy. :D
The lens cap keeps strong enough and acts in film from a strap with a characteristic crunch.
In case of one lens many manufacturers do this (for example Fuji), but for many Our lenses on a strap should hang the garland of lens caps

On my last trip to the store (was looking for a lens cap keeper) the store sales recommends me to do something similar. He glued the velcro on the lens cap, and the other side on his camera bag. However, I don't always bring my camera bag with me. So for now, I'll just stick to strings and just let it dangle ;).

In my opinion it is still better to put it into a pocket ...

Me Too!

Yep, the LAST thing I'd want is to have it dangling on a string, which some people have recommended. I guess they never aim down.

It depends where you tie the string ... On my previous compact cameras I had a quick release and I was able to put it on another string witch was mounted on camera bag, around the neck or on camera strap and I always knew where it is.
Now on dslr, Im always searching in my pockets and around the place.

This tip with hook-and-loop is very good, but I think too that you can loose it very easy when you are in a crowd and If you hit or drag on something.

Strings are still the best way to carry lens caps around.
