Let me start off with a picture of the finished product !

I basically, wanted to run my studio strobes (Elinchrom D-Lite 4s) outside and on-location.

I found a nice UPS, with LCD, that could handle it, for cheap. Then i needed a way to carry it, so i found that case at my local store, cut up a window, oraganized the interiors, used a couple rivets with some plexiglass and Tada.

Portable Power Supply Unit, On Location, And on Wheeeels :D The case also matches the smaller briefcase i use to carry my camera/lenses for a shoot. This makes everything look nice and matching, and expensive. If its a cheaper shoot or for fun, i just use a backpack and hot-shoe flashes :)

Heres a picture of the UPS & the Case i'm using.

p.s: I call it weather proof, because i don't think its waterproof. But it could probably survive a splash or something... Water can definitely accumulate inside though... so. Weather proof... for like sunny days...

Yeap, that was the goal really. Since if i bring out the big flashes, it means im either trying to impress somebody or am actually charging something.

The UPS was on special for like 100$ or so'ish.

The case was about 50$.

IMO, this looks better then a vagabond, and is 1/2 the price. Function wise it probably loses though, but the battery % is more precise :) The only thing i wish, is to find out how to turn off wtv safety feature prevents me from firing the flashes every 1.5 seconds.

Very good idea using a UPS, I would not have thought of that.

I call it weather proof, because i don't think its waterproof There is no point in going overboard with the weatherproofing unless you waterproof all you lights etc. as well

Thanks, i was thinking of throwing in some spare nylon bags or something just incase.

Someone pointed out that the unit im using is a stepped sine wave, wherehas your flashes want pure sine wave.

Ie, i might be damaging them slightly with every pop, so if you were to try this, i would recommend the higher model with pure sine waves. The higher model would probably have more juice too ;)
