Hi all... I recently took some videos with my Canon SX10 IS of some live music performances my friends participated in during a weekend church-type camp activity. Due to not liking the effects of AGC on music, I disabled the AGC in the audio settings in the menu, and set the manual level to average about -12 or -15 dB or so when there was an announcer speaking. However, when I'm playing back recordings of some of them performing, the audio is badly overdriving even on duets and trios, and for choral numbers (which I haven't checked yet) I'm sure it'll be practically unlistenable.
I also had a Zoom H2 set up on the podium, recording audio for it, and so far that audio has turned out MUCH better.

At this time, I currently do not have any software that I know of that's capable of editing the SX10 movies to the level that I want to edit them. They won't even play back in ZoomBrowser software for some reason. I would like to do some trimming of the movies, combine a few (due to running up against the 4GB limit on multiple occasions mid-sermon), and replace the SX10 audio track with the one from the H2 (which I would need to manually line up, I'm sure).
Does anyone have any suggestions on software I can use to do this? Some software I currently have / use are Pinnacle Studio 9 (my dad bought this and I let him install it on my computer), VirtualDub 1.9.5, Windows Movie Maker, SUPER (i think it's 4.3, from erightsoft), and Audacity 1.3 beta. I'm thinking about buying QuickTime Pro, but if anyone can suggest a solution that's $29.99 cheaper than QT Pro, I'd appreciate it. Higher-end programs like Premiere Elements, for example, are $100+ way beyond my price range. (Generally 100% of my budget for electronic / computer-related purchases goes toward the hardware (and the computer's operating system, whether it be Windows (currently XP but looking at upgrading to 7 Pro or Ultimate maybe later this year), Mac, etc).)
For the most part, I have been unsuccessful in attempting to use the programs I currently have. Also, while SUPER is supposed to be able to convert from/to any format, I never can figure out how to properly use it effectively.
So, should I bite the bullet and buy QuickTime Pro, or is there another solution out there that's less expensive and will do what I want?
