Was checking out the current price of the Canon 70-200 mm f/4 non IS today at the local camera store, and to me, it looks like the colour of the lens has been changed.
The same lens I tried out a little over a month ago was an off white colour.
The current colour is even darker. Almost beige /tan.

I'm assuming the colour change is more for cosmetic appearances but, I wondering if any of you know if there have been any changes to the glass itself that would produce image quality different from what I expect to get from the lens?

I plan on buying this lens fairly soon based on the results I got from the lens I tried out last month but, if the image quality has changed for some reason, that would be nice to know.
I didn't have my camera with me so, I wasn't able to try this particular lens out at the time.

Thats... Odd.

But no i didn't hear of any recent changes to the lens, the color might just be a cosmetic thing from its particular factory/shipping/storing.

Check out its serial to determine its age, for all you know it could actually be a really old one.

I don't recall ever hearing of minor changes to a lens for the worse (or better) anytime canon changes something, its usually more major and at the very least gets a MkII notation.

Great lens, i have it & love it. Though i don't use it much.

Could be the lighting in the shop. It's more likely they changed the bulbs or you went in at a different time of day and stood near the window than Canon got bored and started playing around with plastic colours.

Thanks for the link.

I mentioned to the sales guy at the store that I thought the lens coloured had changed and he said that a couple of other people had mentioned that as well.

Maybe Canon is responding to the complaints some customers had about the white colour being so noticable and that maybe this was an attempt to make the lens a little less conspicuous.

To my knowledge nothing has been changed with this lens. On a side note, I have it and absolutely love it. Good luck.
