Hi
I am looking at upgrading my Pentax *ist DS for a better DSLR. I have looked at the 450D 18-200mm IS and the D90 18-105mm VR. The video function on the D90 is of no real interest to me so what is the difference between the cameras and the quality of photo they will produce.

Is there a better DSLR camera out there in the same price range that I should be looking at also?

Thanks for your help.

the d90 has the better sensor and is a step up in class from the 450d. the equivalent canon is actually the 50d. the pentax k7 looks great to me athough i must admit i dont know much about its performance.

the quality of the camera images will be very difficult to tell apart no matter which one of those you get so go for the one that feels good in your hands and you feel comfortable with.

I own both cameras and I feel, just as Rooz noted, the D-90 is clearly the more feature rich camera. If you are interested in high ISO capability, the Nikon D-90 is the winner quite easily.
