I have had the Canon A70 for the past two years and am now ready to donate it to my younger brother and get something better. I was pretty happy with the A70, except for two things - (a) indoor pics, particularly at night that needed the flash were quite dull or grainy. the flash was always either too much at close quarters, or too little for slightly more distance (b) while i have got tons of great pics, there have been times when i found pics not as sharp as i would expect, seeing the conditions (nice bright outdoors, for example). in other words, it was less than 100% consistent.
looking around for the next, i finally short-listed the A95 and the G6, at $300 and $550 respectively. Yes, a wild variation of price, but can somebody tell me what makes the G6 so much more costlier? the prominent difference i could see is the 5mp vs 7.1mp, and the 3x vs 4x optical zoom. is that all? is the picture quality per se different?
of course, i am open to look at other manufacturers too, if anybody could point me in the right direction.
i am not a very skilled photographer, just an eager one. ie, i don't have a very creative side, but i do read the manual diligently :)
most of the times, i snap just to archive family and friends into a photo-album-website. once in a while, i get the urge to print, which i don't go beyond the 8x10 size.
