Alright guys...Christmas/Bday are around the corner and i've got $300-500 dollars to spend on camera gear...
my gear list is in my signature plus 2 flashes w/ umbrellas and cybersync triggers.
Any suggestions on what I should spend the $ on? It's important! I can't think of anything within that price!

A 28, 30 or 35mm prime?
Or don't spend it if you don't need it.
Like that is ever gonna happen.
I'd suggest a used 40D/50D, or maybe the 18-55 IS, the non-IS is pretty bad.
But seriously, if you don't even know what to spend it on, that means nothing is really important set it aside for something really nice later on.
Im trying to set aside for a 5dm2, but its gonna take a while.

Yeah i'm considering putting it towards a 50d... but It's a lot of money to spend and I don't really want to buy a used camera for some reason
just scares me

a UWA....or a 50mm f1.4 if you like the 1.8...
But if you don't have the need, save it up to buy a L lens(70-200 f4, 24-105 f4) in the near future or a new body...

I see no wide-angle glass in your collection, is this because you do not like it?
you can also sell your nifty-fifty prime and add 50/1.4 which would be better glass and mechanic quality?
or perhaps you want Sigma 30/1.4
alternatively you can spend all that money on booze and girls so this headache about which gear does not bother you anymore. :p

haha not a bad idea. Girls are free though ;)
What's the best UWA can I get for under $500 that's still pretty wide on a crop sensor?

I'd get the Tokina 12-24mm f/4

^ - I was just going to suggest the Tokina 12-24 myself.
In terms of used gear, I've purchased 95% of my gear used, never had a problem. Used 40D's are incredibly cheap right now - incredible camera for the money IMO.

Any areas you feel are lacking. I know the feeling that you need to grow your collection to get better across the board tho.
I think a used 40D would be a great idea. I got a Mack 2 year warranty on mine to make me feel a little better. Beyond that the Tokina 12-24, the Tamron 17-50, the Canon 50/1.4 or save a little more and get the Canon 70-200 f/4L.

How does the AF/MF switch thing work on the Tokina 12-24?

are there any reliable online retailers selling the tokina 12-24 for less than $499? That's how much it is at B&H

i would probably meet somewhere in the middle. I cant see spending 2300 on wheels and i cant imagine that 2300 wheels are much better than 1500 wheels or a 1000 used set.
Sell off your 18-55mm + 28-105mm + 70-300.
You should be able to get about $250 out of the sales (50+150+50)
Now you have $ 750 in all
Get either of the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 @ $ 419 or the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 @ $449
Get the Canon 55-250 IS @ $ 250
Still leaves you some change for filters, etc :)
