If I want to use a reflector outdoors to reflect sunlight, what colour reflector should I use and if I want to reflect flash light, what colour reflector should I use...
Also, how different is a model portrait shoot different from a actress portrait shoot i.e she wants more expressive photos...
Thanks...

i like silver.
dunno the difference really. all of the wannabe actresses i've shot just want regular headshots. i guess if they're actresses you can ask them to act out or recite a scene or something and catch different shots of the different faces they make or whatever. hope that helps. i think peter works with a ton of actresses so he could be a bigger help than me. i'm just trying to add a number to my post count i guess.
its just personal preference. there's no hard and fast rules with light colour anymore.
i think some of it depends on their skin colour and what look they want. personally, i prefer a white or gold reflector, but i have a triflip with 7 colours so i just experiment a little till i gt the light i want.

I use silver because it won't influence the color of the source. White will do the same but it'll be less efficient.

Using gold you'll get something that resembles the color temp of almost sunset. Stick with white or silver unless you want to warm up the look of your subject.

I have never used reflectors (haven't gotten to that stage of photography yet), but I would think it would all depend on the complexion of the model. If they have a dark complexion, I would think gold would just make it really stand out, and that's probably not what you want to do. If they are really light, then maybe a warmer tone might be nice.
You probably can't go wrong with that Triflip setup Rooz has. Something like 8 different colors in one kit. Sounds very versatile.

I don't know what her complexion is but knowing that she's French, I'm guessing she's fair...
Thanks for the info, I think I'll pick up a silver/gold combo reflector...

you racist! the only reason i use reflectors is so i can shoot above sync speed and get a wide open aperture. i'm sure they're great for some fill, but i think i'd just rather get an extra cheapo speedlite or something. they're really a pain to work with if you don't have a stand or an assistant. i will say this, if you ever use them the way i do, you'll have to ask them to close their eyes and then open them right before you click it...otherwise they'll squint like crazy and their eyes will water up.
jk about the racist thing, read my disclaimer in my signature

I'll have two assistants... :)
Thanks for the tip about the eyes part....
I am shooting with a reflector because I can't shoot at sync speed with a flash in Dubai. So need it....plus I'd like to shoot wide open now that I have a decent collection of fast lens...
