Monday I called Canon to get the paperwork to send in my 5D for the service bulletin mirror fix.

Today, Tuesday I call them up to find out about the Canon Loyalty program to trade in an old camera for a refurbished one. My old Rebel 300D hasn't seen much use and Canon has refurbed 50D's for $629 plus shipping and tax with a trade of my old Rebel body. This is about $300 less than Adorama's 50D refurbs with no trade. They also offered it with the 28-135 IS lens for an additional $130, which although it doesn't get great reviews, might be a fair walk around lens. So the credit card took a hit on a 50D with a lens and hopefully I'll end up with a decent refurb that I'll be able to tweak the AF for different lenses.

Now I'm wondering if they'd take my old G1 for a new G10 or G11 :)

This link has the details of the program...

Sounds like a great deal Mark. They didn't offer you a 5DII? ;)

I'm interested in the turn around time etc for the 5D. I haven't sent mine in yet.
