Hi
at first i wanted the d90. i was happy the the specs for the stills photography but not with the HD video (those of you who think i don't need HD video could move to the next post ;)).
BUT then came the K-7...
my question is - is there a plan for a new camera equal to the K-7 in the near future? (d300s is nice but the price god...)
thanks

There are always going to be better cameras in the future. But most manufacturers have recently released models in the K-7 class (I've seen it compared more with the D300s than the D90), so I'd be surprised if there's another direct competitor this year.

i'm sure that always the're going to be better cameras...just asking if there are any known plans for somthing better than the k7 with the same price tag? :)

btw, which other cameras the k7 is compared to? (d300s, what more? with HD video...)

thanks

Canon 7D would be the latest competitor.

it's expansive as the d300s. k7 still looks better when you put the specs near the price...

I think the price difference probably gets you slightly better AF and AF tracking with the 7D and D300s. Whether that, and the loss of some of the K-7's other features, is worth it to you, only you can decide. I don't think we'll see another camera in that class before the middle of next year, but the price of the K-7 will continue to fall, maybe by 10% by Christmas, and the 7D will probably fall by a bit more over that time.

The other important thing for you to decide is which camera feels best for you. Try to get to a camera shop where you can try them out. See how you like the look through the viewfinder, how easily the controls come to hand, and how intuitive you find the menu layout.

If the K7 is what speaks to you, go for the K7. By all reports, it is an extremely capable camera.
