I am buying a digital camera for the first time ever. i have used film camera only and im not a professional by any means. the A75 is on sale at most places around me because the A510 is coming out. Should i wait or just go ahead and get the A75? i am not rich and the money i would save would be justified in my honest opinion. However i would appreciate some honest opinions. Thanks!

thanks for the help guys! i will not be coming back to this forum again. no one seems to care!
Perhaps you should try the "Which Camera Should I Buy" forum. And read earlier posts on this forum which address similar questions to the one you posted. I suspect the reason no one has replied to your post is that it has already been discussed.

I think you should wait and see the reviews of the a510. We seem to have a similar situation ... am also on a budget but was already able to buy the a75 because i have read great reviews on the said camera. When i bought the a75, I did not know then that a powershota510 would be coming out. But if you can wait and see that the a510 has great reviews as well the you are better off buying the a 510.
However, if size and lightness of the camera is not an issue to you and if the a75 comes out cheaper, then go for the a75. Canon's announcement says that they just made the a510 a bit smaller and lighter, added a 4x optical zoom as compared to the 3x optical zoom of the a75.

Hello all!
How important is 4x vs 3x?
Is it significantly better because it seems for indoors 3x is sufficient and for outdoors 3x and 4x might be similar (unless its like 10x)
Thanks,
Kaz.

A75 is good enough if you just want a beginner camera.
