Hi guys
I'm still finding my way through photoshop. What is the best way to adjust the dark spot in this pictures background? I don't want to Lasso everything because then i would lose his fading whiskers - any ideas?

I would try the Clone Stamp tool. Start near the whiskers and work my way to the right.

PS if you like I can give it a try.

Dodge tool and gradient tool at reduced opacity matched to the rest of the background. The gradient tool works ok w/o dodging first as well. I'm sure there are plenty of ways to do it.

I don't find it all that distracting and it seems to actually draw you more toward the main subject. Nice capture by the way!

hey thanks for the assistance. With a little practice - the clone stamp tool worked great. Sorry to sidetrack but how come when I posted the picture on here it didn't look nearly as vibrant or sharp as the original? Can someone recommend a resource for the correct way to publish photos?
