ok so i went to a place called trees and shot a band friday night. well a few bands, but i only know the 3rd one...

i brought the 5d II, sigma 50 1.4, 35L, 16-35L, and the 85 1.8. i wish i'd have shot more with the 16-35.

the light changes so fast, you'll see some ridiculous shutter speeds with higher ISOs than i would normally use because i just clicked that SS wheel over when needed.

anyway, here goes.

1. lead singer for the first band.

2. i'm not sure, but i think this was my favorite of the night. not the prettiest, but i like the perspective anyway.

thanks guys, i was really excited to try out the new sigma but didn't spend enough time with some of the lenses i probably should have. i really wish i'd hit the front of the stage with the 16-35 and caught some wide angle shots there. thing is, they were supposed to do a 13 song set, but ended up cutting it short at about 5 or 6..and i'm not really sure why...if i had known i would have spent less time "testing" lenses and more time using the proper ones for each shot.

Were you the official photographer or did you just take it upon yourself to capture the moment?

i know the iMi guys, they've hired me before to do band shots for their album artwork....well whenever i feel like testing out low light stuff like my new 35L and sigma 50mm i'll see if they have any shows i can practice on...and they're always really cool about getting me in and getting me access to everything. but no, definitely not a paid gig on this one...just practice.
