Newbie - First time Post - Photo Dilemma

Hello Everybody,

I am new to the world of photography. I just picked up a new camera a couple weeks ago and did a photo shoot this past weekend at a cemetery on the north side of Chicago. The following photo was a difficult frame up, as the statue was on a really high pedestal, and I wanted to capture the crucifix in the background, because I wanted to capture a story. I would like some feedback on this shot because I just don't know how to feel about it. Some have liked it, others have hated it, but I wanted some of your opinions on it. Please let me know what you think.

Sort of an odd crop especially cutting off the top of the statue head and crucifix legs. I would probably make it a vertical shot. Lighting on statue is a bit distracting. If it was me I would reshoot it.

You are absolutely right, I should have shot it vertically
