I dont know very much about this digital photography yet. I just want to be able to take decent pictures and send them to walmart for developeing. I just operate the camera in "IA" mode. When I went to walmarts site to send them it said pictures where poor quality. Whta should I do? Also from time to time my wife lists things on craigslist and ebay. I was trying to help here put the photos on and it said they where to large. So what size and how do I do it. Even just normal size for emailing pictures. Thanks any help is appreciated..

Can you post some pictures for us to see? You'll need to host them elsewhere and link to them here.

Are you taking the pictures indoors (low light) without a flash? Are you taking them at full resolution?

The 12 MP images that are the default are too large to post in most places. You'll need to run them through the software that comes with the camera or any one of dozens of free photo manipulation packages and reduce their size to a reasonable one. Do you load your images to your computer at all or just take your memory card to Walmart?

Most pics are outdoors on our camping trip. I am not sure what you mean by full resolution. I just turn the camera on and make sure it is set at IA. I did upload some the other night to the photo fun that came with the camera. They where pics of a victory scooter that my wifes mother is selling on craigs list. I tried to load them on craigs list and it took forever before it said they where to big. I them went into the photo fun and tried to resize them but the pics came out horrible. I will go now and try to get a link on here so you can see what I mean.

Here's a fixed link: http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/1384339417.html

You left an extra http in your link.

Those images are too small to see anything. How did you downsize them for Craigslist? What software did you use and what steps did you take? Were you happy with the shots before you downsized them? Frankly, for Craigslist images it really doesn't matter; those shots look fine.

By default your camera shoots images at a resolution of 10 MP, which means the images are 3648 pixels x 2736 pixels. This is larger than most computer screens in normal display modes, and is severe overkill for anything like Craigslist or eBay. They can't use "normal-sized" images. You can change the resolution down to as little as 640 x 480 which is about the size that Craigslist wants, but you wouldn't be able to use those images for pretty much anything else. That's the resolution of a cheap camera phone and pretty much negates the point of buying a nice camera. But if you are going to shoot a lot of images that only are going to go on Craigslist and the like, this is something that could save you some time.

A better solution is to take the pictures at the maximum resolution and then use software to downsize them to the size that you need. For printing at Walmart the full size images are best anyways. As for poor quality, what size prints were you trying to get? Either you wanted to print them too large and the base image just didn't have enough pixels (I doubt this) or your images were blurry due to low light and high ISO. You'll need to upload your images (full size) to a photo hosting site (like webshots, smugmug, flicker) for us to see those.

I uploaded them to the photo fun that came with the camera. Then I hit resize on that program. When I just leave the camera set on 10 I cant use them in craigslist or ebay as they will not load it says file to big.

The pictures I was trying to get at walmart where just the standard 4x6 and it said the quality was poor.

So you say just leave the camera at the default 10. Then maybe I am not downsizing them corectly. what am I doing wrong.. I just upload to the photofun and hit tools then resize. What is the best procedure.. I would honestly be happy to take some pictures and send them to walmart for developing. The normail size 10mp wouldnt even load to there site it said to big. then when I downsized I got the poor quality message..

Thanks a ton for the help..

The images you posted are 640x480 pixels, too small to print at any reasonable size. Are these the images straight as they come out of your camera? They should be much bigger in order to print.

Can you write up the exact steps you take when you upload your images?

I just uploaded these straight from the memory card to photobucket and then to this message board. The camera is set on 10

It does post the photo in your post. There's an extra [/img] tag that you need to remove but it doesn't affect things in my browser. I'm not sure what you are seeing.

The image code should look like this (just remove the spaces)

[ IMG ]http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee209/grizzly2c/P1000080.jpg[ /IMG ]

That produces this:

http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee209/grizzly2c/P1000080.jpg

Looking on PhotoBucket your images are 640x480, so something is going wrong. They are too small to print. Either you're taking the pictures at too small a resolution or something along the upload process is downsizing the images. To figure that out we need to debug things a bit.

Step by step - how do you post the images to Photobucket? Do you take the card out of your camera and put it in a card reader? What then? What program prompts you to download the shots? I can't help you debug this without knowing exactly what you are doing.

On my screen I just see The link. i would like to just see the picture like everyone elses..

Ok yes i take the card out and put it into the reader, them plug the reader into the slot on the computer. Then it takes about 5 minutes and then a box comes up and says importing pictures. then i hit upload on photobuckets and it is removable disk j. it uploads them and thats it.

ok my default image size on photobucket was set at 640x480. I just changed that to 1024x768 that is as large as it would go. I am going to upload a test pic on here tell me what you think.. again thanks a ton for the help.

Can you not post pics directly here any more? It's a lot easier than linking to them. Just click the "insert image" button...

You can. I thought the size limit was smaller, but you can upload JPGs up to 4.5 Meg. So, go ahead and upload one of your full images here. Don't change the size at all, take it just as it comes out of the camera.

OK, perfect. That is what you should be sending to Walmart and that should print up just fine. Your images are coming out of the camera exactly as you want them. Have you tried just taking the memory card into Walmart and trying to print there?

Again, how exactly do you upload the images to the Walmart website for printing? Without that there's not much we can do to help you?
