Just wanted to pass along a different suggestion, just in case you might be interested. Right now there is a $100 rebate on the Nikon 3700. You can mail-order it for about $219, so the rebate makes it $119. This compact camera would be an excellent choice in a p&s for a pre-teen. The camera has a metal body, 3.2mp, 3x zoom, focus-assist light, great macro and movie capability, and some other neat features not easily found in more expensive cameras. I just purchased one for my wife, and it's a little jewel of a camera. It's not the best small camera you can buy, but it is by far the best $120 camera you can buy. Check out the reviews here and at the Steve's digicams site....

I'm not surprised! I have two Fuji's and they are great cameras. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, if needed. Congrats on your purchase!

have fun,

How was you e550, I was looking at this camera and now that the price for e550 has drop here in Canada, I'm thinking again.

Is there any problem with too much compression on the 6mp files?

I read in the review, most of the complaining about this and said this camera need post processing which I don't have time to do.

I'm the guy who used to take about 2 rolls of film per day. Moved to digicam and takes about 50-100 photos on my days out.
