Hi,

I just recently bought a coolpix 8800. My first camera was a minolta maxxum 3xi film SLR.

Does anybody know if there is a step down lens adapter for the coolpix 8800 that will let me mount a non-nikon wide angle or telephoto converter?

The packaging on the wide angle and telephoto lenses say they mount to a 52mm lens. Is that the size of the thread on the lens?

The lenses came with 3 lens adapters. I think they are 55mm, 50mm and 49mm. None of them fit the coolpix 8800

I know theres a nikon UR-E17, but all the sites that i've looked at so far does not tell what the resulting size is. What I've found so far is that lens adapters usually have that information. For example, from 68mm to 59mm.

I think nikon does not give that information because they want you to use all nikon equipment. That is the only thing that I don't like about nikon.

I am not an expert on cameras but I think I understand much more than the average Joe. Hey, I picked a coolpix 8800, didn't I. That should count for something.

Somebody please help.

Included is a link to lens adapters I use for my 8800. It was difficult to see how to screw them onto my camera until I realized that the outer ring on the camera lens by the gold ban unscrews and the larger adapter screws onto this thread not into the smaller lens thread. I do not have Nikon wide angle and telephoto lenses for my 8800 but this works well with my Merkury Optics Super Wide 0.45x and my Digital Optics 2.0X Pro Hight Definition Lens.
