I'm finding that if I'm outdoors, there are times when I want to use my SB-600, but straight on flash is too much. Sometimes I have no ceiling or walls to bounce the flash off of, so I though something like this might work pretty well.

Do any of you guys have experience with these?

There are several different variations on this theme on the market.
One other popular band is the Dem (http://www.dembflashproducts.com/flipit/)b series of products. Gary Fon (http://www.garyfonginc.com/)g also makes similar devices.

John- Used as a snoot you are moving in the wrong direction- even more direct concentrated light. If you are using it in an open position an index card attached via rubber band will give you the same results.
There are several DIY's you could use for this instead of wasting money on something like that.

They are relatively easy to make if your into DIY. I made some out of a plastic softcover looseleaf binder and white craft foam, for under a $1.50.

I was definitely thinking of the open position. I thought the SB-800 has something similar to the index card built into it, where the SB-600 (which I have) doesn't. Is it called a "bounce card"?

This is all I'm looking for. An index card and a rubber band will certainly do for now!

Looks like my daughter gets to practice cutting tonight! Thanks for the link. That's exactly what I'm looking for! Time for me to get creative with it.

Thanks for bringing me back to reality guys. I was almost thinking I "needed" the Honl stuff. Velcro is amazing. My favorite use of it is holding down our tandem bicycle when we put it on the roof rack of our car. For a case of beer (I don't own a welder yet) a buddy of ours built a rack with compression pipe fittings to mount to the yakima round bars we already had for the cars. On the front we mounted the mount that clamps to the front fork of the bike and on the back there is a 1" angle iron placed at 45 with some soft rubber mounted to it. The velcro then holds down the back of the tandem at the cross tube between the two cranks!
Yakima wanted $300 for their version, I spent $12 on a case of Natty light...

Here it is DPR nothing spectacular the velcro on top holds an oversized bounce card, the snoots are also held together with velcro and can be laid flat when unfolded.
