Damn, just testing my "mint" 70-200VR F/2.8

Won't autofocus from 130-200mm at infinity.

Will autofocus fromabout 1m to 200m but just doesn't quite make infinity.
Will also autofocus 70mm-130mm from about 1m to infinity.

I only noticed because I have my camera set on focus priority and it just doesn't release. I can manually overide using the focus ring and get past infinity fine.

Before I go and google for an answer has anyone had anything similar, if so what was the solution?

How far is the infinity and what are you aiming at? I'll go try it out.

hmmm this is confusing to say the least. i hope its all ok buddy. :(

In this case the best infinity was a nice sharp sky to hill transition 10km away. Pressing the shutter, the AF would try and lock on but only get very close to focus, you could still see a slight blur in the viewfinder on carefull examination.

Turning the focus ring manually could bring it into sharp focus and then my shutter would release.

As I said before at 200m distance and less it locks on perfectly.
