Hi
I have a d50 and have enjoyed the camera from footprint to the menus and button size
I shoot raw and love hdr
yesterday after saving for a year I got my highly awaited d90 drooling:D
first I installed Transfer having a stand alone machine it couldnt download the raw codec:confused:
I contacted nikon tech and the non english fluent person couldnt give me an answer:mad:
after I set the time and date I put on my favorite lens 50mm 1.8
took a pic of my kitten
the lcd looked like it had a mesh on it
then I tried to navigate through the menus to set things as Ken rockwell had advised
perhaps if I shave down my fingers I could press the micro buttons
the footprint was also diminished from even my d50
point and shoot? Funny I thought i had a dslr:confused::mad::(
Sorry nikon adieu
canon 50d here I come:cool:

I think you should call Ken Rockwell for tech support.

Or he should call his mommy.
Anyone have an idea what he is on about?
The RAW codec not installing on your machine isn't Nikon's territory. You beef would be with the manufacturer of whatever operating system you run on your machine.

It's a little difficult to tell what exactly you are complaining about, but if you dislike the D90 because of small buttons, you're really going to hate a 50d
Just remember folks this is the person who is running Photoshop 7. Somehow he thinks old software should have codecs for new hardware.
This is also the person who posted that he had "messed up his D50" by playing with the menus and the camera required a reset.
And last but not least this is the person who says that he has saved for a year to buy a D90 but within one day is able to descide he hates it and will buy a Canon.
I hope he has fun on the Canon forums and I wish him well.

I have a 50D and don't have to push small buttons very often, but yes if you have a D90 and have problems, I would think it is software or personnel computer related. Anything beyond that I would return the camera for another one.

How the heck did you remember all that Kiwi?
I'm a pretty big guy and have no problems with the buttons at all. Now remembering what the heck they do is another thing. One other odd thing, why give up the D90 which is without doubt a definate improvement over the D80. To a camera even the Canon boys are dissappointed with:confused:

Use the "look at all posts" feature.

if he dislikes D90 then perhaps he has to skip Canon and turn straight to Leica rangefinder or MF Haselblat? just will take him a decade of saving before he can come back to complaint about either of them :p

Come on. what was point of your thread. To tell the world, you are leaving Nikon. I don't think everyone cares. Seriously. this happens every minute. someone leaves canon and goes to nikon and vice versa.
next time, post this in dpreview and see what you will happen to you.

Automaton, IF you want a serious suggestion here is one:
a) KEEP your D90
b) throw away your PC or the old software you using and get newer, do not be greedy to pay a little

You call me an a hole for pointing out the camera that you are choosing to replace your current camers with is not without it's own set of issues. Or is it because I questioned your logic. I just wanted to be sure. You post a non purposed irrational rant and expect rational responses
One could say you got as much as you put in to both your camera and post.
