Somebody was asking the other day about handholding the 70-200VR at slower speeds. 200mm - 1/125 sec hand held

For some reason I ended up taking a couple of bug photos :)

Thanks but they are called Peacocks for a reason which I will leave you to work out. Females are called Peahens and do not have the tail plumage.
In birds the male is generally the bird with the most brilliant plumage which is used to attract suitable mates.

When I looked at the first two on flickr, I thought they had a different look to them.
I did not notice you were using a TC. I do not know how to explain it, the bokeh is different maybe?

There is no way I wanted to even touch that thing. I have a new car arriving in a couple of weeks, a family holiday staring next Sunday and a daughter who is heading to China on a school trip early next year.
Do you really think I want to be even slightly tempted by something with an RRP in Australia of $8490.00? :D

Thus is why I said I may be wrong.. I couldnt remember which had the larger tail plumage and thought I had recalled hearing somewhere females had them to attract the males. Looks like i had it "Bass Aackwards", Thanks for the clarification!

In the animal kingdom, the males are the best looking cause they have to attract the females.
The females don't whore themselves out :-)

Rich- Great shots. Really like the way the color of the butterfly shots came out.
