One of the 300 AF-S II lenses that I was trying to get for you came thru and I ended up buying it. It's mint condition but is the version prior to yours and doesn't have VR. At $2850 I thought it was worth buying though.

I applied a bit of female logic and realized that by purchasing this version of the lens I really saved a lot of money so I took $1000 of the money I saved and picked up a mint Zeiss 100 f/2.

Today was the most I've ever spent in one day on lenses that didn't include a trip to the airport :)

That's the first piece of female logic I ever understood... figures it came from a guy though! Have you tried the 100mm yet Rich?

I've tried the lens before but my copy won't arrive until sometime next week.

Just because I finger pointed at you doesn't mean you shouldn't be the bigger person and not point back at me ;)

I'm glad you really like it; freakin awesome definitely describes the lens you bought. I'll be happy if mine turns out to be regular awesome.

I think that the 300 f/2.8 is definitely the most versatile focal length. I'm looking forward to using it at the zoo with a teleconverter. The 200 was short and the 400 is much too heavy to lug around thru a large zoo.

I've got to place an order for a RRS plate for the lens and would like to get a drop in polarizer for it. I think the same one will work for the 400 f/2.8 VR but I know the 200 f/2 requires a different one. I'm not happy that because these are so expensive Nikon didn't design their long primes to all use the same drop in CPL.

When I dropped him at the airport I offered to keep his lens in my car so I could pack it up safely and ensure that it got back to Sydney in one piece via a professional courier service but no, he took the gamble and carried it onto the plane. In fact I doubt that he actually let go of it when it went through the x-ray machine. :D
