We have recently been give a Canon A75 for Christmas. We took pictures and the flash worked fine. But here recently we can't get the flash to fire at all, even when we set it to "always flash". We have been told that the batteries might not be powerful enough. Is that possible? We tend to think that the flash may be bad but don't know if that is possible either. Can someone please help?
Thanks in advance.
What sort of batteries are you using? Is the little LED lighting up orange at the back or not at all?

I would think that you would change the batteries and find out. If you only use the camera infrequently (less than 400-500 pictures per year) then I would suggest Lithium AA's as a replacement. They run about $10, for a set of 4, at Walgreens.
If you shoot a lot, then buy rechargable NiMH AA cells, rated at 2100mAh or higher, and a good charger, like a MAHA C204W. You can find them here:

Either way change the batteries and see if your problem goes away. If not then the camera should still be under warrantee, so take it back to the store where it was purchased or send it in to Canon for repair.
