Just a quick pic so I can see if I did this right. Taken with a Sony Alpha A350 and a Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di lens. Feel free to comment or make suggestions.

Nice shot ... and you might try a slightly tight aperture, next time, on these real close-ups as more of his neck would be in focus.

I would suggest taking more of these, if possible ... and vary the aperture just a bit to see the effect. You definitely got the eyes on this one. Good job!

Thanks Don. I will try that with the aperture next time. I'm learning different techniques with this camera so any tips help out a lot! Here are a few more I took.

Some nice shots, particularly the last eagle.
I don't know if you're using a monopod or handholding but that last eagle is at 300mm =450mm equivalent and 1/300 seconds. It would be crisper with a faster shutterspeed.

Rule of thumb speed in seconds =1/focal length(@35mm equivalent)

If your lens gets a bit soft wide open perhaps stop it down a little and up your iso, more noise might be preferable if it gets sharper.

Thanks Dread for the comment and the tips I will try a faster shutter speed next time. I never thought of upping the iso, will have to try it. All of the pics were taken hand held.

Depending on your camera.
I shoot mine by default at ISO400 and I'm always accused of not pushing the cameras ISO capabilities. I don't like noise in shots so rarely go to ISO800 or 1600. But it's certainly something worth considering.

I rarely push my lens to it's widest apperture prefering to adjust ISO to get adequate shutterspeed. I find at max aperture the contrast and sharpness aren't as good.

I like the tiger. I have a pic of a shark almost identical to yours. I think it is posted in the Nikon POD thread.
