Hello
Can anyone tell me how can I verify the number of pictures were taken with a Nikon D40?
I want to buy one, it is not new and I asked the owner how many pictures did he take with this camera. He does not now to check this.

Does anyone has another idea about what camera should I buy, instead of this?
I am very new in photography, this would by my fisrt DSLR camera and I am under budget also.

Thank you.

Take an unedited jpeg photo then use a program called Opanda viewer to view the Exif data. The total shutter release count is shown in the full Exif data in one of the fields way down near the bottom.

Every Nikon. Nikon hide the shutter release count from normal view because as far as they are concerned it is for service purposes only. Some other manufacturers make it visible I believe.
