The Nikon Fabre Photo EX takes macro photography to a whole new level. This high-powered stereoscopic microscope allows direct viewing like any other, but where it really shines is its ability to mount any Nikon DSLR or compact digital cameras and take high-resolution pictures of miniscule objects. With magnification from 20x-66x depending on the camera adapterused, the Fabre really lets you get up close and personal with nature (or anything else that fits on the tray).

Well... I don't see how they can be used to post naked pictures... so I think they're okay :p

Yeah, but they've gotta fit on a tray. Does that mean squished bugs?

As a biologist that cut his teeth on a microscope - I find this interesting. But my guess is that it's not as good as the Nikon scopes with Nikon mounts already out there (but probably cheaper).
i dont know a thing about microscopes, but that is a nikon scope. i didnt know that there was nikon mounts for microscopes before this one.

You been living in a cave? One of Nikon's major business units has always been it's medical and scientific imaging equipment.
Next thing you are going to tell us that you don't know that most of the traffic cameras in the world have Nikon DSLR's inside. :)
i musta been. lol i knew they made scopes but didnt realise they all had dslr mounts.

Looks like you are correct - but I've only seen links to it on blogs, news sites, etc - not on Nikon's site when I did a google search.

Am I the only one who noticed the $1600 price tag, not that that would stop a true NASamaniac. :p
1600 isnt really that much if you look at it as a specialty macro lens.

Actually, I saw it at Yodobashi Camera (huge electronics retailer) this evening in their glass case of Nikon stuff you don't normally buy.
Even though it's pricey, I think it's less expensive than the pro versions they use on high-end microscopes.
Speaking of microscopes, our lab has an old D100 attached to a compound microscope. I'm thinking of hooking up my D90 to the F mount to take shots of histology slides. The D100 has an old mechanical remote shutter release (plunger). By using my wireless remote, I'll have less vibration.
