I am tired of my Epson's clogging up. How are the Cannon's doing as far as clogging goes? I can go weeks without printing a picture.

Opinions....

Thanks,
Steve

From what I have heard from users, clogging is rare on Canons, and print quality, on the prints I have seen from the i990 and i9900 is very good.

It's funny but I rarely have this problem on my 870. Even here in the desert. I generally print about once a week.

Which Epsons do you have?

I have the 870 here in Benson, AZ. If I go away for the hot months, I have to toss the cartridges and replace them. It takes about 30 cleaning cycles, which uses up all the ink anyway, so I just bite the bullet and let them go. I am going to switch to Canon when this thing gets worn out or I get too disgusted. Al

I started with the original Epson Photo printer, then got a 750, then the latest is the 820. Prints were/are excellent from all when ink is good, but they have all suffered from the same clogging problems. Just getting tired of all the cleaning cycles or having to replace the cartridge because the cleaning emptied them. I used to be a staunch epson supporter, but I am looking for any solutions now. Am I going to be dissappointed with other prints?

I've had a Deskjet 1220C for a number of years now. While it cannot match the print quality of the Epsons, Canons, or even the new HPs, I really like the wide carriage and the ability to handle large paper.

From what I can tell, my choices for upgrade are the Epson 1280, 2200, and the Canon i9900. While I like the speed and ink handling of the Canon, they don't seem to do as well in the paper handling arena. I've pretty much decided I'm not going with another HP.

Epson has the new R800, with archival, pigment based inks. Anyone know if Epson will be upgrading the 2200 or 1280 to match the R800's new capabilities? This year, early next year, someday, pipe-dream?

Cheers,
Eric

My 820 clogs constantly. I do not use it much, but even when I am, the black is almost always clogged.
I would like to replace it with one that will do larger pictures with excellent color and sharpness. What is the current recommendation?

Thanks

JanetCheck out the Canon i9900 (http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCprProductDetail.jsp?modelid=9870&item=10027&section=10214) printer. It's fast, can do 13X19 prints, brilliant colors and sharpness.

What John said. I have the i9900 and absolutely love it. I've made some awesome 13 x 19 inch prints off it, too.

Janet, i have the canon 820 and have never had a clog even though i sometimes don't print for weeks. i buy Canon ink tanks at Staples. The 820 is fast and prints great photos for me. Like Jeff and John, i like it so much i'm going for the i9900 ($427 at Amazon) so i can print larger prints on occassion.

My 820 is the Epson. And I will go for the Canon i9900 most likely. What paper do you all use?

I've just purchased a Canon i960 photo printer (With all of the mail-in rebates and stuff, it was quite inexpensive.) and I absolutely love it. The quality of the prints is amazing. I highly recommend it.
