I was thinking about scrapping it so I could move on to newer cameras. What does everyone think about this?

<crickets> Nobody?
It's interesting from a coo look at that point of view. I don't really think many people are that interested though. Most people wanting to do underwater photography are in such a specialist area that they know already.
I think this comparaison review could be even more interesting if you add the brand new Pentax W80 to the test.
Canon D10 and Olympus µ tough are among the amazon.com cameras top 20 bestsellers.
So I think there's an interest.
I was under the impression that i wasn't the only one with a Dslr that would only buy a P&S if it was waterproof... Since i wouldn't take my dslr at that point.

I would like to see the comparison, if only because I hike/ski and people are always asking about waterproof/rugged cameras. I usually don't recommend one unless they are going to be on a canoe or kayak for extended periods, but I'd like to know which is the right one to recommend.

I am a d300 guy and would love to have a knock around p/s "beach & bar camera". I'm actually in the market at this very moment and need to make a decision next week . . . so yes, it would be a very, very good thing. I wish Fuji would make a waterproof f200 :)
There's no better beach and bar knock around camera than the Kodak disposable P&S. I have one beside me right now.

Not for me.
I don't think the market demand is big enough to warrant checking out a group of waterproofs. As some of the other guys have already said, any serious diver who's also into photography will be using more advanced gear than simple, waterproofed P&Ss.
I'd stay above the high-tide level Jeff. :)

Unfortunately I decided not to do the comparison. There are a LOT of recent and soon-to-be announced cameras that I need to focus on. Sorry guys!

Jeff,
Yes, I would be interested in a comparison of waterproof cameras.
My interest really is in one that's good for 'water exposed' (skiing; sailing) conditions and likely a P&S with moderate (at least 3X) zoom.
If your site had the ability to search / select by waterproof, that would be very acceptable.
If you get into comparisons, there might be at least two categories:
- waterproof like I want (i.e resistant to water exposure), and
- underwater

It might open the door to more Google hits by the millions of information hunters out there - a small percentage of whom are looking for exactly that comparison.
But if it means not covering your primary bases, as you've indicated, then it's probably a good call to skip it for now.

I just went the other route and purchased a waterproof case for my Fuji F30 :)
Will be testing it out in the Cook Islands next month. I can certainly see how buying a waterproof camera would be a "better" option. Buying a case is suited for one model of camera only...so if you break your camera in a non-water related incident, chances of the same camera still being on sale are pretty slim.

I would very much appreciate a review of waterproof cameras. I want a small one that can double as a knock about camera as well. I have a Canon PowerShot SD750 which is a great size. The throwaway waterproof film cameras take horrible pictures underwater. I would use it for snorkeling but not diving.
i just bought a lumix TS-1 and its fantastic, miles better than the old oly mju we had.

...and if you break your camera IN a water-related incident....you're still up the creek without a paddle :o ...Oooops :(
