Hi all,
I was wondering if any of you clean your own sensor and if so, what cleaning kit do you recommend? I have dust on my sensor and need to clean it ASAP. No time to send off to Nikon for a cleaning. Tried the blower and it's not working.
Wondered if any of you have tried compressed air? Any reasons why it shouldn't be used?
Thanks...

Never ever use compressed air it tends to have oil residue in it.
There are plenty of reputable sensor cleaning kits around if you want to try a DIY solution.
Sensor Swabs and Eclipse Optical Cleaning drops. Never had a problem using them.

Thank you! I'm going to see if I can find some cleaner and Swabs. I'll have to order online as they don't sell them where I live. :(

Hi Jcon,
I googled Sensor swabs and the link is broken for the company that makes it. It says I can only view a cached copy of it. Are they no longer in business?
They have them on Amazon but which type do I need? There is a Type 2, a type 32 and one for Full Frame sensors. I have D90, so I know it's not Full Frame, but have not a clue as far as type 2 or type 3 swabs.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks...
Here is the list that tells which type for which camera...

Pictureline is where I purchased mine. Its illegal to mail the Eclipse Solution, its hazardous, but they still mailed it to me anyway. I noticed they now have the swabs with the solution already in the swab, that might be a good option but I prefer to put the 2 drops on the swab myself.
