Has anyone taken any highest resolution shots from the E550? Inside or Outside? What's the scoop on the pictures? Could you tell us or post them? I'm waiting to buy a high resolution compact until I find out more about the picture quality from this camera.

Thanks for any help any of you can give me.

Well, for a while there I thought that these cameras might challenge Canon's A series. Without an AF illuminator, low light focus might be a problem. I see the 550 is still using the somewhat dubious 6.3MP (12MP interpolated) SuperCCD.

Call it what you may, they are still smashing 6.3 Megapixels into a 58 square mm chip. In my opinion this is just too darn small to support more than 4 or 5 MegaPixels without getting pretty noisy above ISO 100. But maybe they have been working on an internal Noise Ninja approach.

It's interesting to note that the E500 and the E510 are using standard CCD's (but still no AFI), so it appears that they have dropped the 3.2MP Super CCD.

I guess I should wait for the reviews, but so far I'm a tad disappointed in the base information. If their target was Canon, they missed.

Postulations aside, George, Fuji has indeed created a well priced digital camera that does take very well detailed, and rather excellent digital photos. No, George, because of your correctly placed Canon loyalities, that issue may indeed have become obscured. However, the truth is the E-500, E-510, and the E-550 have found a market among digital camera users.

That being the case, some of us should be sufficiently open minded enough so that we at least take a look at what those digital cameras can really do.

No, this family of digital cameras does not have low light level focusing illuminators, but they do have some excellent features well worth noting and becoming familiar with in operation.

It is only my personal opinion, but to my viewpoint I see these forums as a place to openly discuss ALL digital cameras, not just Canon digital cameras, so that everyone can learn a bit and make up their own minds.

By the way I hope you have a great time on your upcoming trip to China. There are surely many photo opportunities there. I got many great shots when I was there. I too, have to go back to work, so my participation on these forums will decrease when I leave, once more, on next Wednesday.

I'll have some E550 photos up by the end of the day.

I just bought an E550, and love the way it handles and the pictures it takes - at least the way they look on the camera screen and computer monitor. For some reason, the printed photos from my Epson C84 are faded and dark. I have printed photos from other sources without problem, so this is exasperating. I have also downloaded printer drivers from Microsoft and Epson. I'm waiting to hear from Fuji, but I can't even register my product because their registry page is not working. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have tried opening the pics in FinePix, MS Picture Viewer, and MS Explorer, all with the same results.

I also own a Fuji E-550 and I have had no problems at all. I use MS Digital Image Suite and Adobe Photoshop Album and neither piece of software has had any problems.

Hi, Im new around here and maybe Im not looking in the right spot but I know a couple of people have said they would post some sample pics from their e550 - and I was hoping someone could?

Im somewhat torn - as I really like most of the features of this camera, but so far the sample pics Ive seen (as in on pbase.com) have been fairly poor. Albeit, there were only 60 or so when I last checked and who knows how well the 2 people who posted there know how to use their camera!

Any more information from some of you knowledgeable owners would be greatly appreciated :) :)

I played around with E510 and E550 at the local Fry's Electronics the other day and, the only thing besides the lack of an AFI that disappointed me was the amount of time it took for the Flash to charge after each shot. I counted at least three (3) seconds. But the shots were taken extremely quick nevertheless.
I don't know how the quality of the pictures come out, but it looked rather decent on the large 2.0" LCD display.

My Canon A-80 was stolen on graduation night so i'm still looking for a replacement. Despite the lack of many manual features you would find on a Canon A-series, this camera comes at a reasonable price/ great value... although i'm uncertain about the still-interpolated resolution, what can i say, you get what you pay for.
