I was doing some research for a brother-in-law of mine who is interested in buying a Panasonic camera (no reason, he just likes the panasonic brand)when I found this:

Sounds like one is SOL after the included batttery expires. Maybe after about a year? Anyways I will be steering him away and just thought I would share.

It's been done to death on DPR. Non-issue for me, I'm still using the original battery that came with my FZ20, still fine over 4 years later.

Although I sold the FZ20 to my sister about 6 months ago it's also 4 years old & still going strong. Never bought a second battery as I never needed one, it always easilly managed a days shooting without problem.

This really sucks!
I was JUST ABOUT to purchase this camera until I went on Pannys site and was downloading the firmware upgrade and saw this...so sad...now I don't think I want to buy a Panny...

It does not load. But, so what? People moan about using third-party batteries anyway (not knowing the big guys rebrand them)...
