View Full Version : Cutting the deck
Well, more like cutting the King. It has a .177 pellet traveling at 500fps slicing its way through the card. 500fps = 366mph / 590kph

Thats nice image Rhys; clear and nice colours. You have come quite a way since the first images.
A good bit of aiming as well as the playing card can only be 0.2/0.3mm thick ?
Yes. It's thin card. I can't use the gunsights as they're way too high. Instead the trick involves a wooden kebab skewer.
The ideal lighting position is about 8 inches from the subject above and to the right of the camera.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard that.
:)
Great shot, it's like the water drop image times 50!

can't tell for sure but is the pellet 'tumbling' looks like the 'wound path' is expanding......very cool stuff!
It took me a while to figure out the aim for such a small target.
I have plans for an even more stunning target now. I would have done the shot tonight but I had work to do. I'm working late tomorrow night also. Maybe Thursday I can get down to some more serious photography.
Trouble with this is I have to set to and build little tools every few shots in order to produce a different variety of photo.

Oh, that's a pellet! I thought the King was exposing himself.
