I cannot use this camera...everything is yellow...i have reset to defalut all settings ..if i use the flash (which i never did with my sony) the pictures look like i used the flash...all glarey and bright ...hate that...
Also, when i depress the shutter, half way to grab focus, there is a brief very clear view and then it goes 'noisy' ...grainy and that is what the photo looks like...????

Help!

I'm guessing this only happens indoors. There's not enough light. To compensate you either need high ISO (grainy photos) or a flash. As for the color, it's probably your white balance. Does it look fine when you shoot with a flash or outdoors, but messed up for indoor no flash shots? You have to set the white balance to match the type of light you're shooting in. Indoors usually requires a tungsten or florescent setting if you aren't using a flash.

It's always more helpful if you can post a few of the suspect images for us to have a look at.

Cheers. :)

thank you for the response...I tried the suggestions..changed to Flourescent, and used high ISO...of course, I had to set the camera at Manual to make these changes...not a good result...and these settings don't affect the 'AUTO' setting do they?? I will try to send the pics..

According to the exif from your "smaller" photos,

the flash fired in all of the photos except for the 3rd photo(you can actually see the reflection of the flash in the frame);

you had auto-white balance in all but the 2nd photo, but you told the camera that you had cool white flourescent light in the 2nd photo(The flash is not this type of light, hence the blue color)

manual exposure in only the 2nd photo

ISO of 400 in all but the 2nd photo(ISO 64)

I am guessing that the color is most accurate in photos #1 and #4

It also looks as if you have additional lighting(different type, maybe, fluorescent on the ceiling and incandescent on a table) in the lower left hand corner in all but the 2nd photo. "Different" types of light tend to give auto white balance a hard time. Try with

Do you have any comparisons of the Sony and the P90 which show what is acceptable and not acceptable(same field of view). From the photos you have posted it looks as if #1 and #4 are fairly accurate of the scene.

#1a
Exposure Time = 1/30"
F Number = F2.8
Exposure Program = Normal program
ISO Speed Ratings = 400
Exposure Bias Value = ±0EV

#3a
Exposure Time = 1/21"

ISO Speed Ratings = 400
Exposure Bias Value = ±0EV
Light Source = unknown
Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
Focal Length = 4.6mm

White Balance = Auto white balance

#4a
Exposure Time = 1/30"

Pix #1 the flash definitely fired. You can see in exif and apparent on the image itself; there is flash reflection on the bag. Apart from that I think #1 and #4 is okay.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking if the images are too grainy at full size? At ISO400 they look quite good to me.

It looks to me as if the Nikon has the more accurate WB. The Sony seems to have a pinkish cast to the photo. I assume that you prefer the Sony shot, but it seems to me that the Nikon did a better job with this photo.

The shutter speed you are using with these photos, 1/10s, will not be good with anything except still scenes like these. If you try to take photos of people or anything moving, you will most likely get motion blur.
