Need Help!!
I am trying to get some information on the best options for a mobile storage device to download and view my cameras (canon S1 IS) picture .jpg and movie (640x320 30fps .mov) files.
I have been looking at archos and epson because they seem to offer the only device that has CF slot and can view movies. I have not handled or tested any of these devices so I do not know if they can actually play the .mov avi file however, theri specs say the can.
Has anyon eused these devices or have any suggestions as to any other best of breed options.
Thanks for you help!

I actually managed to get my hands on the Archos Gmini 400. It's a portable media player with a 20GB hard disk. This thing can play music files, store digital photos and play movies. It also allows CF cards from digital cameras to be directly inserted and images imported. Check it out, it's pretty good.

This question has been asked and answered many times. But once again, Take a look at the RCA RD2780 (lyra). The lyra is very similar to the ARCHOS, however I am pretty sure it is considerably cheaper. It has a 20gb hard drive, a CF card reader built in already, and a 3.5" color LCD screen. I love the Lyra and it has been very useful for photography, as well as for travel. I recently took it on a plane ride and wached a few television shows that I had recorded a week earlier during the trip. Take a look at www.digital1234.com I bought it from there and paid about $300. At the time I bought it there was a $50 mail in rebate. RCA cut me a check within about 2 weeks. Good luck with your purchase and also search this forum for RCA RD2780 I know I have answered this question with that response before :)

The RCA RD2780. I was reading reviews of that and it seems many users have really horrible experiences viewing large photo libraries. There's no thumbnail/gallery view for photos. No zoom function for photos.
Worse thing is that lots of "features" are only "available in a future upgrade".

I am not sure where you got your info, and maybe it was correct at the time you heard the information, but now that is not the case. I have the RCA RD270, it has a thumbnail gallery (it is a setting that you turn on. you can set it for file names or thumbnails) and it also has a zoom function. Overall the screen really isn't clear enough to see whether a picture was focused correctly, but you can get an overall idea. The zoom feature only allows you to zoom in slightly (like 1-3x).
