Total noob here. I am going to get Bryan Peterson's book but was wondering if there were any others. I know nothing about photography. I do like to know 'how' things work as it makes it easier for me to grasp things. Such as how a lens works,(I don't know) etc.

Also suggested software, also of which I nothing about. I'm pretty computer literate I've just never messed with any type of photo software.

Moderators...Might be beneficial to work some type of common noob issues into a sticky...

This site has been very helpful to me in my new hobby, thank you.

There's also some good online stuff which covers a lot of photography "basics"and, even better, is free LOL.

Check out this site for example:

CambridgeInColor (http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials.htm)

Cheers :)
