Canon 50mm f/1.8

Is this the absolute best sub $100 lens out there?

Got mine yesterday...did a walkabout in the backyard and can't believe how sharp it is....when it's not wide open that is....

Any other owners out there? If so what's your experience?

It's a great lens for the money. Very sharp when shot above f2.8 IMO. But some have gotten copies that are sharp even at f1.8 also. It's a good starting lens for an intro into low light and prime lens. Enjoy it...I know I did...

I think its the best sub 100 lens, if only because its the Only sub 100 lens.

Im talking EF recent lenses none of those old manual lenses which are great but im not thinking about them.

I find the sharpness if great for what I'm using it for. I wish it was built a little stronger but for $100 what can they do. I'd definetly replace it if it died:(

If $ were no object, would you spring for the 50mm F/1.4 over the F/1.8? I don't have either but am seriously looking at the 1.4.

I got the 1.8 and dont regret it.

I'd use the difference in $ from the 1.4 somewhere else.
