Re. Menus/settings.... do you think that Canon has an advantage from Nikon for "user friendly" or vice-versa? I am referring to 5D mk2 vs D700.
I realize that I am asking Canon fans- just looking for some justification for switching from my Nikon D200 to the Canon family. I notice that most professionals choose Canon. I am considering D700 or the BIG switch to CANON with the 5D...
Also- for me- the final answer lies in Image Quality:). I am hoping to see an improvement if I move to Canon.
(purchased the 5D and still own a D200).
I realize since most of you are CANON users you may not be familiar withe NIKON menus/lenses. Just looking for opinions.
Thanks-
Brand new on this forum- and I appreciate any feedback.

The principles of photography applies to all cameras. Ease of use is simply a matter of finding the buttons and getting used to their placement. That can only come with practice.

With that in mind, the D700 is not that much from a D200, in physical layout. There are a couple of changes, but they are relatively minor. You should be right at home. OTOH, if you are having difficulty with the D200, perhaps you should consider simplifying your routine until you get more experience. You don't have to use every feature, all the time.

menus are completely personal. one is not "better" than the other. its purely preference.

will you see an IQ improvement if you move from a d200 to a mkII ? absolutely. you will also see an IQ improvement moving from a d200 to a d90, d300, 50d etc. the bigger question is are YOU capable of improving your image quality.

from my expereince with the d700/mkII, the mkII's IQ at or below iso400 is the best i've seen. the detail is noticable and not just by pixel peeping. once you get above that, and the further up you go, the more the d700 pulls away.
